Consumers View Mobile Payments as Poorly Protected Against Financial Loss

The good news for mobile- payments proponents is that The Pew Charitable Trusts found more than half, 56%, of its respondents had made a payment with a smart phone in the preceding year. Extrapolated, that means approximately 143 million adults had made a least one mobile payment over that time. But many people have a twinge of anxiety about financial loss from mobile payments. PA Fed President: Digital Currency Inevitable

While Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank President Patrick Harker believes it’s “inevitable” that central banks will eventually issue digital currencies, he warned that the United States shouldn’t be first in line. Cloud Architecture That Avoids Risk and Complexity

The author contends that the architecture team layers on more technology than necessary or doesn’t take advantage of cloud-native features. This means that the applications burn ten times more public cloud resources. He also notes that overengineering of the cloud solution can cause additional unnecessary complexity, which can lead to more attack surfaces for hackers and the additional likelihood that data on premises or in the cloud will be breached. He claims that he spends most of his time reviewing architectures and deleting 30 percent to 50 percent of the enabling technology in order to lower these drawbacks.
