Worldwide server shipments totaled 2.96 million units during the fourth quarter of 2015, growing by 9.2 percent from the same quarter a year ago, according to a study released by Gartner. The top two server manufacturers, Hewlett-Packard and Dell, saw their shipments decline, while Chinese server vendors Lenovo, Huawei and Inspur Electronics experienced growth. Currently, Intel's x86 server chip is the CPU of choice for Chinese server manufacturers, but Qualcomm and IBM are trying to push their chips, based on ARM and Power architectures respectively, into more servers.

Google just launched a new suite of tools for digital marketers. The Google Analytics 360 Suite is a set of six integrated data and marketing analytics tools. One tool is Google Audience Center 360 which is a data management platform aimed at making it easier for marketers to understand their customers and find more like them across channels, devices and campaigns. It offers native integration with Google and DoubleClick. Google Optimize 360 is a website testing and personalization tool, while Google Data Studio 360 focuses on data analysis and visualization, integrating data across data sources and turning it into interactive reports and dashboards. Meanwhile, Google Tag Manager 360 manages the lifecycle of the e-marketing tags. Finally, the last two tools in the suite are renamed versions of existing ones: Google Analytics 360 was formerly known as Google Analytics Premium and Google Attribution 360 used to be known as Adometry.

Oberthur Technologies notes that online fraud is now 65 percent of the total card fraud. Their consumer research shows that 80% want dynamic security code protection to help fight online fraud. The static printed code (CVV) is replaced by a mini-screen that displays an automatically refreshed code generated by an algorithm (dynamic CVV) every hour and does not add any steps to an online purchase. If the card data is stolen, it becomes useless within the next hour. Sixty percent of respondents even said they would be willing to pay more for the new technology in a Oberthur Technologies' MOTION CODE-enabled card to address online fraud.
Many consumers are used to free P2P money transfers. e.g., Venmo and Square Cash transactions generally cost nothing. However, U.S. Bank charges $2.95 for next-day payments and $6.95 for real-time payments. The clearXchange digital payments network allows real-time P2P payments between users at participating FIs, using email addresses or phone numbers. However, participating FIs don`t have to change their settlement processes to offer real-time payments because it is all done via real-time messages. The receiving FI memo-credits the funds to the recipient's account, so that they have instant availability to them via an ATM or debit card transaction. Both FIs then settle up according to their normal schedule at a later time.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise announced that it was introducing its “Network On Demand” (NoD) service enabling organizations to consume the latest networking technology on a pay-per-use basis. NoD includes SDN (software defined networking), mobility, and cloud computing and covers these Alcatel-Lucent's products:
- Intelligent Fabric (data center)
- Unified Access (wired and wireless campus)
- Network Analytics
As data centers become more virtualized - or software-defined - many experts believe that that the Wide Area Network (WAN) must also become more software-defined (SDN). Nuage, the number three SDN vendor in the industry behind Cisco and VMware, thinks that the branch router is headed for the scrap pile due to the fact that it is 20-year-old technology and vertically integrated. They are proposing an “OpenCPE” router - a general purpose x86 hardware appliance running a Linux iptables networking stack, with separate control and management planes. They posit that this open source solution could result in 10x faster turn up with an operational cost reduction of over 50%.
